What can be taken for people that have asthma but have no inhalor?
angie_010408 asked:
Okay, so my mom’s boyfriend has asthma but he does not have insurance so he can’t get the inhalor. And at the pharmacy they gave him some Vick’s Vapor Rub but it didn’t do anything. Does anyone have a good way to get him a little better?

he should try advair but i think u need insurance oh and andvair really works fast but if he starts breathing hard he should stop doin wateva he doin then get a glass of water and calm down for a minute to slow his weezing and breathing down water helps alot and make sure its cold
Maybe you could ask the Pharmacy about your situation or ask your doctor the situation too. Maybe that could work out. Or try to see if he you can get some type of insurance. That would help a great deal. Maybe your mom can talk to her doctor about getting some inhaler for her boyfriend since he doesn’t have any insurance.
He should really be taking his meds. Try to contact the major drug companies that produce albuterol inhalers/Singulair/Advair (try GSKforyou.com) and they may have a program to help those who have financial issues. In the past, before I was diagnosed with asthma, I would use benedryl before I went to bed, it would help reduce the irritation that I had and therefore I could sleep. I have no idea if it would help him, but it did give me some relief. I don’t have the common asthma symptons, which is why it took me 41 years to be diagnosed. Good luck,
Vick’s will put him in the hospital as it irritates the airways of people with asthma, so tell him to stop using it. Check around the area by phone and see where the clincs are that are based on ability to pay. Then once he has the prescription in hand have him take it to the nearest Walmart or Target. Both of them have programs to get Albuterol inhalers for only $4.00. In addition to that Glaxo-Smith-Kline have a program called bridges to access that help low income and uninsured people to get up to 3 months of medication for $50.00. No body should go with out their medication, especially ones to help them breath.
Drinking hot black coffee can relieve asthma symptoms
First, the new Albuterol inhalers cost way more than $4. The CFC inhalers are about to be discontinued. Only one company still makes them.
The cash price is about $40 for a HFA Albuterol inhaler. Advair, a controller med, costs over $100 per month.
She should call her physician and see if that have any samples. She can also contact the pharmaceutical companies about their programs for the uninsured.
Just like other conditions (diabetes, anxiety, etc…) there are many options if the asthma is not too bad (and I am assumuning it is not or he would be in the hospital.
A great resource for WHAT asthma is, and REMEDIES on how to deal with it are at a great web site I found when I was looking for the same thing for my wife (we finally got insurance a few weeks ago!).
Hope you find some information that will help you out there!
