Peace: The allergies that cause your asthma are chronic. That means they can be controlled but not cured. The same goes for your asthma. You can control it, but it cannot be cured. Since your asthma is allergy induced, it is important that you actively work on your allergy avoidance strategy. You should also measure your peak flows at least once a day. Your peak flow meter can signal a change in capacity hours and hours before an attack, letting you know to talk to your doctor or adjust your medication.
Lots of people like active, full, healthful lives with asthma…as long as they work on keeping it under control. If you don’t have a peak flow meter, check this link out and talk to your doctor about using one.

I have something called “cough-variant asthma.” Basically I start coughing when exposed to dust and pollen, and also get a lingering cough after a cold. The doctor prescribed an inhaler (at first Advair, then Pulmicort) to use every day, and it still did not get rid of my symptoms.
To make a long story short, allergies and asthma are not very well understood, and you end up taking medicines that are not without side effects. I have started using non-traditional techniques (in particular, Reiki, look it up) in addition to my inhalers, and the results have been amazing — my persistent cough, which was only relieved by the inhalers, is now gone!
Some people do grow out of asthma, and it is my recommendation to try Reiki, or other non-traditional techniques in addition to your medication.

My mom had asthma when she was young. (It wasn’t allergy induced asthma.) She got better around 18-19 years old.

Edit - I found 2 articles about outgrowing asthma.

i have asthma too, which sucks, but it has never really bothered me much anymore, it used to be really bad, then started to calm down, so

theres a chance you (and i) will grow out of it, but its possible it wont go away =(
